Birthday Fundraiser: The Story of Sponsoring Juicy

For my birthday, I went out to the bar with an empty tin can and asked for donations. Thankfully, I’m the perfect combination of annoying yet endearing, so most people trusted that I planned to use the money for an Animal Rescue League donation, as opposed to a new couch. (I only considered it for a minute.) I vaguely remember pouring shots in the mouths of potential donors and using my best puppy dog eyes to guilt people into giving me a dollar. By the end of the night, we raised $270! The next day, I went to the shelter and contributed that money to a dog named Juicy. Juicy is recovering from a tumor removal, and while at first she was shy, she eventually showed her playful, paw-giving side.

To everyone who contributed, your generosity astounds me. Thank you for trusting a 25-year-old full of tequila. ❤
